Over the years I've experimented with a variety of mediums and techniques, and like all artists I found those I liked more than others. Oil painting was something I had tried as a teenager when one of my Uncles gave me a set of paints, and I was hooked. I've also tried acrylics (you'll see a few of those on this site), but they are quite different from oils and handle differently. So I prefer oils over acrylics
Watercolors are another medium I love. Although they can be challenging at times, they elicit a look you cannot achieve with oils. So I love working in watercolors when I feel a piece will look better in that medium.
Then there's etching. Nothing could be more different than painting but I'm in love with the technique. I invite you to visit my GALLERY OF ETCHINGS to view those works as well and learn more about them.
No matter what the medium is, at the end of the day my goal is to enjoy the process and captivate someone with my results ~ the greatest gift an artist can receive. I welcome you to visit my STUDIO UPDATES page to receive images of my latest works. Thank you for your interest in my work.
Nature in general, has always been very inspiring to me ~ whether it be a single tree, amazing sunset or sky, or reflective waters. From the breaking of dawn to late into the starry night, inspiration has no limits. From an artist's perspective, if time is taken to look and analyze, there's a painting somewhere just waiting to be born.
I create my paintings and etchings by combining what is real with what is imagined ~ utilizing a vast library of photos I've amassed over the years and incorporating something from one photo or many to create one painting or etching. Sometimes it's the mood of a place I've been and captured in a photo, that inspires a piece. When I begin a new work, I generally have a good idea of what the finished piece will look like before I put a brush to paint but the direction could change as I'm working . . . I find the possibilities are endless.
While my etchings tend to be very detailed with a lot of fine line work and little color, my paintings are more expressive with color and not always as detailed depending on the subject matter. Lighting and mood are my main priorities when creating a painting. If I'm successful, the viewer will connect with finished work in some way.

The works shown here are just a select sampling of paintings I've created and sold during my many years as an artist. I have created many works, and although I can't put an exact number on it, collectors of my work range in the thousands. There's a lot of truth in the old saying, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”. I love what I do and appreciate that I have the ability to create, and when my artwork touches others in some way, that's more icing on the cake. Needless to say, I am very gratified knowing what I do is appreciated by others. Thank you for your interest in my work and for taking time to visit my site. If you feel a sense of solitude or peace while looking at even one of my works, then I feel I've been personally rewarded. I welcome you to visit my STUDIO UPDATES page if you would like to receive images of my latest works or information on upcoming events.
